Fascinating presentation reveals history behind Israel’s most iconic sites (in just 2 minutes)
King Herod built some amazing structure in Israel! Here are a few of them. He built a wall around
Jerusalem, the second Temple, and places at Masada. Masada was the location where ultimately, a
group of Jews took refuge. It was a high mountain, offering a location that was easy to defend. Nearly
a thousand Jews took refuge there during the Roman-Jewish war. The Jews had lots of food in reserve,
however that saw that despite their tactical advantage of altitude, the Romans were advancing. The
Roman army had nearly nine thousand fighters to lay siege on the 960 Jews at Masada. When the Jews
realized that it was over and they would be taken into forced slavery by the Romans, they chose to
commit suicide and avoid slavery.
